How To Help

Did you know that Langridge Builders are planning to build on Dark Lane?

You mean, they haven’t told you?

There are dozens of reasons why the residents of Calverton don’t want this development to happen. There are lots of things we need to do to prevent it. If you want to get involved contact us.

If we all pull together, we can make a difference. Bet they didn’t tell you that either?!

WE NEED YOU!!

What would this development mean to you?

A part of our green belt gone forever along with its wildlife and archaeology which can’t be replaced.

Remember, it will be gone FOREVER

What are local people doing?

*    Writing letters explaining our point of view and asking our representatives to represent our interests (literally thousands of letters have been sent to councils and planning authorities) See overleaf for who to write to NEXT

*    Keeping in contact with each other by attending meetings and sharing what is going on with those who can’t attend

*    Display a poster advertising your support for the campaign

*    Application has been made for the Dark Lane area to be designated as a ‘village green’. Dozens of local people have had their say in this.

Pavement Doesn’t Breathe!

Most of those trees date back to the Viking era, so in a way, it’s part of Calverton history, imagine destroying that, it would be like destroying a family heirloom.

If you still believe the houses should be built, why not go over to it and check out what would be destroyed?

GAG5

GAG5 is a group of people in the 5 villages of Papplewick, Bestwood, Newstead, Linby and Ravenshead……

People in these areas are not happy with the Gedling Borough Council Plan either as what it describes affects them too. They are planning action by taking legal advice about the way the plan has been administered by the council. This may go as far as the high court. Local people in these areas have pledged £2000 to start this action. Calverton Parish Council may be involved in the future.

Campaigns cost money

If 100 people in Calverton pledge £10 per month to this campaign, we could ensure we have done everything we can to stop this needless development and keep Dark Lane for us and for future generations to enjoy.
